Firefly Flashmob! December 19th – Westlake Center

On September 20th, 2002, Fox network aired a show for one season that’s legacy continued to thrive long after it was gone.  Firefly was an unfinished masterpiece about survival, pride, love and sacrifice in tv writer Joss Whedon’s collection.  Nearly eight years after its cancellation, we gather together to celebrate both the beloved show and our fellow Browncoats (fans).

To mark the occasion, GeekGirlCon has organized a flashmob that will occur at 3:30pm on Sunday, December 19th, 2010 the plaza of Westlake Center. Street-legal drinks in hand, Browncoats will raise their voices in song to the Hero of Canton, Firefly’s Jayne Cobb, to promote and raise awareness for GeekGirlCon, a convention that “aims to misbehave.”

GeekGirlCon is an unprecedented convention in celebration of we women geeks and women’s contribution to the geeky things we love. GeekGirlCon will be held in Seattle in 2011, and we are currently fundraising in order to secure our date and venue. Math, fantasy, science, video gaming, comic books, and sci-fi: our love for them once made us outcasts, but now they will bring us together.

We invite you to join us in raising a glass to Joss Whedon’s Firefly and to support GeekGirlCon to make this a beautiful reality.

“We’ve done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.” — Malcolm Reynolds, Firefly
