Extra Life started in 2008, with a 24-hour video game marathon to raise money in honor of young Victoria Enmon, who had passed away from cancer. Generous gamers donated $302,000 that year, with all proceeds going to Texas Children’s Hospital. In subsequent years, Extra Life has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network to benefit children’s hospitals across the US and Canada, and has expanded from video games to include games of just about every category.

Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast is hosting a 24-hour D&D marathon, in which they’ve invited Andy to represent GeekGirlCon. Andy’s usually known as the 8 Hour Gamer, but how many hours will he last after his debut at midnight on the 26th? You can make things easier for him by helping him reach his fundraising milestones–or harder with special donations earmarked to inflict woe on his character. Andy’s already earned a number of helpful boosts, and if he reaches his current goal of $2000, he’ll start the game two levels higher than he would otherwise. If you think that makes things too easy, you can hinder him with a $150 donation, meaning that his character will speak loudly and vigorously against a D&D deity of your choice–with, no doubt, terrible story consequences!
