Geek About Town: November

It’s craft markets galore this month as we approach the holidays! Check out this month’s Geek About Town for where to find those events plus other geeky and interesting things happening throughout November.

Wednesday, Nov. 1: Bob Burgers Trivia Night

  • 7 p.m. — Central Cinema
  • $8 tickets
  • Get ready for 50 questions about your favorite Belcher gang of misfits, covering seasons 1-5.

Saturday, Nov. 4: Short Run Comix & Arts Festival

  • 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center
  • Free to enter  
  • The 7th annual festival will feature over 270 exhibitor artists. Panel talks include Leela Corman, Emil Ferris, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Jesús Cossio, Joe Sacco, Sarah Glidden, and much more. Read more here.

Tuesday, Nov. 7: Gayme Night

  • Starts at 9 p.m. The Unicorn/Narwhal in Capitol Hill
  • 21+
  • Tuesday Gayme Nights are a way to share your geeky gayness with the world. A rotating weekly live gaming extravaganza, hosted by Seattle’s top queens.

Thursday, Nov. 9: Hearthstone & Cupcakes

  • Starts at 7 p.m. Cupcake Royale in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood
  • Free event
  • eSports start-up RumbleMonkey is hosting a casual hangout for Hearthstone players. So if you’re a competitive player, this is a great meetup to practice at. If you’re also just starting out, it’s a great place to learn from more experienced players.

Friday, Nov. 10: GeekGirlCon Board Game Night at Wayward Coffeehouse!

  • Starts at 7 p.m. — Wayward Coffeehouse in Seattle’s Roosevelt neighborhood
  • Free event
  • Do you love board games and enjoy teaching others how to play? Explore the board/card game hobby and meet folks happy to teach you their favorite board games! Come and play with folks who love playing games. And the best part about the GeekGirlCon game nights with our friends at Wayward, it’s free!

  • Seattle’s own indie fiber festival. Market features local and regional producers of yarn, fiber and accessories!

Saturday, Nov. 11: Holiday on-day book sale

  • Starts at 9 a.m. — North Seattle College
  • Free event
  • Browse the tables and support the Friends of The Seattle Public Library, featuring a selection of genres, gift-quality books, and other items in time for the holidays.

Saturday, Nov. 11: A discussion of Crazy Horse: The Lakota Warrior’s Life and Legacy

  • 7 p.m. Elliott Bay Book Company
  • Free
  • Crazy Horse family members Floyd Clown & Doug War Eagle along with author William Matson discuss and sign their book Crazy Horse: The Lakota Warrior’s Life and Legacy based on the family’s history.

Saturday, Nov. 18: Minecon Earth Party

  • Starts at 8 a.m. — MoPOP in Seattle Center
  • Tickets start at $27
  • MoPOP is getting into the action with our MINECON Earth Party, a full day devoted to Minecraft with build battles and challenges, the chance to meet Minecraft developers, and the MINECON Earth live stream on MoPOP’s epic Sky Church screen.

Saturday, Nov. 18: Native Art Mart

  • Starts at 10 a.m. — Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center
  • Free
  • Support native artists and small businesses! Also, there will be traditional salmon baked lunches for sale and traditional native performance each day of the market. This event continues into December.

Saturday, Nov. 18: Outsider Book Club

  • 5 p.m. — Outsider Comics and Geek Boutique in Fremont
  • Free
  • The Outsider Comics and Geek Boutique’s book club selection for November is DC Bombshells. Learn the story behind this alternate reality where the Second World War is fought by superpowered women on the front lines and behind the scenes.

It’s World War II and Batwoman’s battling crime on the home front. But events in her life are about to quickly change, and she may be leaving Gotham behind for a bigger cause.

Saturday, Nov. 18: Meet the Jet City Saber Guild
