GeekGirlCon ’16 has Begun!

There was a festive feeling in there air tonight as GGC guests, staff, volunteers, and panelists came together to celebrate at Hard Rock Cafe.
The evening began with lots of cheerful conversation as friends old and new came together to make plans for Con weekend.
Then it was time for Whitney Mongé to take the stage. Her set was a beautiful melding of familiar notes and unique vocals to create a sound that was all her own. It took no time at all before the whole crowd was singing along, led by Mongé’s powerful performance. Hearing all those voices meld together gave me all the feels.

Finally, SAMMUS began her epic set, mesmerizing the crowd with her incredible stage presence. She introduced herself as a producer, rapper, and PhD student as the audience cheered. Guests moved with the music, as SAMMUS performed “Games and Cartoons,” bringing the party to a culmination of awesome. This was my first time seeing SAMMUS perform, and I guarantee it won’t be the last.

[…] While the judges deliberated, there was a surprise performance by SAMMUS. She preformed a song so fresh that she had her lyrics on her phone. She said she was nervous, but her performance was awesome. I love everything about SAMMUS’ music, and I was so honored that she shared her energy and music with us again today after helping us kick off the con at the Hard Rock the night before. […]
