GeekGirlCONcert and Kick-Off Party ’15
The GeekGirlCONcert has always been a highlight of convention weekend, and this year we decided to go all-out and celebrate our fifth annual convention with a combo Kick-Off Party and concert to start the weekend off with a bang!
When: Friday, October 9, 6pm-8pm Kick-Off Party, 8:30pm-10:30pm GeekGirlCONcert
Where: Hard Rock Cafe, Downtown Seattle, 116 Pike St, Seattle, WA 98101
Both events are FREE to badge-holders, so please plan on arriving early as space is limited!
At the Kick-Off Party, from 6pm-8pm, there will be free food with a cash bar, and a badge pick-up location for those who couldn’t make it to the Conference Center earlier that day. Come mingle with GeekGirlCon staff, attendees, volunteers, and other guests and get excited for our 5th annual Convention!
Then head upstairs for an all-ages GeekGirlCONcert! Doors are at 8pm for an 8:30pm show. Last year’s GeekGirlCONcert hits the Thundering Asteroids! return, along with fellow Portlanders the PDX Broadsides.

The PDX Broadsides are an acoustic trio who sing songs about the things they like, including but not limited to: science, Doctor Who, Hayao Miyazaki, Game of Thrones, BASIC programming, and growing up. Composed of a PhD candidate, a former comics journalist, and an author, The PDX Broadsides are based in Portland, Oregon, a prime location for people who love things enthusiastically. They have performed at conventions and clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest. Their latest album is “Aim To Misbehave”.

Thundering Asteroids! have been beating the Kobayashi Maru with over-caffeinated power chords since 2009. With topics ranging from sexy lamps to goblin kings and from superheroes to kill screens, their geek badges are proudly emblazoned on their sleeves. Minn and the boys crank the D10 to 11 as they rocket through space leaving a trail of video game cartridges and blown speakers in their space wake.

The post says to bring the whole family, but it also says it’s only available to badge holders. If one of us has a badge, will my husband be able to get in to the concert, or does he need a badge to attend as well?
Hi Alyssa,
Sorry for the confusion. The party/concert is for badge-holders only. We just wanted to clarify that since it’s an all-ages event, if your kids have badges they can also attend.
