Give To GeekGirlCon On #GivingTuesday 2017

Tomorrow, November 28th, is #GivingTuesday! A global day of giving, #GivingTuesday is a movement. A day set aside from the Holiday shopping, in the midst of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a day to give to the organizations that you love and support.

What does that mean for GeekGirlCon?

GeekGirlCon is a nonprofit organization entirely run by some stellar volunteers. Our mission is to support, uplift, and honor the achievements of all women in geeky fields and their accomplishments. GeekGirlCon exists because of the generosity of our community. We are able to put on the convention each year because of your donations, and because we are volunteer-driven all of those funds go directly towards the con experience.

Every dollar we are given tomorrow through Facebook will be matched by the Gates Foundation. The match will begin at 5am PST and will run until the $2 million pool is exhausted, so if you’re interested in donating, the earlier the better! This year, our initial goal is to raise $5,000 and our donation page can be found here.

Aside from simply supporting our ability to host an amazing convention each year, how does your gift help?

  • Programming, such as featured contributors, speakers, and workshops at the convention.
  • Activities and events throughout the year, such as our Board Game Nights at Wayward Coffee.
  • Allows us to create an inviting space that better supports our diverse and inclusive community.

Thank you for all of your continued support throughout the years. We could never fully express the amount of gratitude we have for our community.

Have a geeky holiday season!
