Submit a Panel for GeekGirlCon ’16: Deadline’s Coming Up!

Ever been at a convention, sitting in on a panel, struck with the realization of “I could do this!”? Do your friends often have to, politely or not, ask you to stop lecturing them about your latest passion? Is your Tumblr carefully curated and focused on a specific fandom or interest? Or, hey, do you just want to push yourself and try out public speaking?

Submit a panel idea for GeekGirlCon ’16!

Our expansion this year to the fourth floor means we have even more room for panels, so this is the best year yet to throw your hat in the ring.

If you’re not sure if GeekGirlCon is the place for your idea, here are the questions our panel submission judges think about when choosing panels:

  • Does your panel idea align with GeekGirlCon’s mission and values?
  • Is your panel topic timely? Does it have a buzz around it?
  • Is your panel idea completely thought-out and complete?
  • Will the GeekGirlCon audience find your panel idea relevant and interesting?
  • Do you have the time and energy to devote yourself to creating a great panel?

We want to make sure GeekGirlCon 2016 is full of fantastic, interesting, and unique panels that represent everyone who comes to GeekGirlCon. Variety isn’t only the spice of life: it’s the main ingredient as far as we’re concerned. We’ve had panels in the past that focus on sole fandoms, discuss historical events, or philosophize on fandom’s place in the world—and sometimes a mix of all three!

(I personally am hoping for at least one Hamilton-themed panel—and, hey, if you’re looking for another panelist…)

Applications for panels and panelists are being accepted through March 31. Be sure to check out our panel submission contest going on now, too, and enter to win a chance for a free 2-day con pass and a GeekGirlCon shirt, too!

Can’t wait to see what you all think up!
