Thank you for giving BIG!
Despite huge technical difficulties, we couldn’t have asked for such amazing donors this year. In GeekGirlCon’s first year of teaming up with Seattle Foundation for its GiveBIG program, we raised over $12,000 with 115 donors!
As a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, these dollars are crucial and we can’t wait to give back to all our supporters at GeekGirlCon’16 on October 9th and 10th!
We are so grateful to everyone who donated for being a leader in joining us in this new type of yearly giving. It allows us to welcome all forms of geek in a safe space, celebrate the female geek at our annual convention, and put on monthly all-inclusive gaming events.
In addition to a terrific giving event, GeekGirlCon volunteers and geeks had an excellent day at Wayward Coffeehouse when the donations came pouring in. Here are some highlights from GiveBIG this year!
1. Our goal this year was 50 donations and we doubled it with over 115!
2. We had a great time tabling at Wayward Coffeehouse May 3rd and got to meet long-time GeekGirlCon supporters and make new friends too!
3. Our Board of Directors offered an extra 500 dollars if we could hit 100 donations, 20 more, by end of the day and we got over 35 additional donations and the extra 500!
Your contributions make GeekGirlCon happen. In GeekGirlCon 2015, there were:
- More than 8,500 attendees;
- 62 hours of panels and presentations;
- 22 hours of game play;
- 10 hours of special events;
- 110 vendors and artists;
- 128 volunteer agents who gave
- 1008 hours of service during the Con; and
- 36 volunteer staffers who gave
- 13,976 hours of service throughout the year.
Your dedication to our mission inspires us to continue to listen, grow, and improve in serving the GeekGirlCon community. Thank you for joining us in this adventure.
