Mobile Application Developer – iOS specialist [Volunteer Position]

Job Summary
GeekGirlCon is seeking a mobile application developer with some experience making iOS applications. In this role, you will be responsible for part of the creation of a mobile application for attendees of GeekGirlCon who use iPhones, under the direction of the project manager. Your duties will include developing the front end of the application to match rough design specifications, working on a database to hold relevant information, and coding the backend of the application for functionality. This will be a fairly low complexity application that will be easy for an experienced developer, or ideal for an advanced university student looking to build a portfolio.

Responsibilities
- Creates UI for iOS mobile application to design specifications
- Implements database for maintenance and availability of convention-specific information
- Develops backend functionality of the application to meet specifications
- Works in conjunction with team members to ensure that Android and iOS versions of the application match
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of mobile application development experience
- OR advanced student with portfolio displaying similar level of skills
- Experience with developing iOS applications
- Experience with GitHub
- Experience with SQL-based databases
- Experience with, or ability to adapt to, Xcode
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of mobile application development
- iOS and Android application development experience

- GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.
- Attendance remotely (or in-person, during non-pandemic times) for staff and departmental meetings is required.
- Must maintain prompt and professional correspondence.
- Most work is conducted over email and with in-person meetings in the Seattle area.
- Between 5-10 hours per week of work is required for this role (including meetings, etc).
- The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future!
