Job Summary
GeekGirlCon is seeking a motivated and outgoing volunteer to join our team as an Outreach Manager. The Outreach Manager works to lead our team of Outreach Coordinators spread the word about GeekGirlCon. In this role, you will be responsible for seeking out opportunities to get the word out about GeekGirlCon at Seattle-area conventions, festivals, events, etc as well as online. Handling logistics, coordinating schedules, and making connections with like minded geeks

Responsibilities
- Research, identify, and reach out to mission-aligned groups, organizations, and community events to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.
- Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with partners to develop and implement joint initiatives, events, and activities.
- Lead a team of Outreach Coordinators, distributing and tracking work, managing the shift schedule, and training staff volunteers to represent GeekGirlCon at in-person events.
- Actively participate in networking events, conferences, and community gatherings to expand GeekGirlCon’s network of potential partners.
- Develop and maintain a database of partner organizations, including contact information, collaboration history, and potential opportunities for future engagements.
- Collaborate with the marketing teams to promote partnership events and activities through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and the GeekGirlCon website.
- Provide regular updates and reports on partnership activities to the Director of Marketing.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and organizations.
- Experience in community outreach, partnership development, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and partnerships simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Familiarity with the Seattle and surrounding cities’ geek and community organizations is desirable.
- Ability to attend occasional team meetings or events, both in person and virtually.
What It Means to Volunteer as GeekGirlCon Staff
- GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.
- Attendance remotely (or in-person, during non-pandemic times) for staff and departmental meetings is required.
- Must maintain prompt and professional correspondence.
- Most work is conducted over email and with in-person meetings in the Seattle area.
- Between 2 - 5 hours per week of work is required for this role (including meetings, etc).
- The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future!
