Job Summary
Interested in the nuts and bolts, nitty-gritty, behind-the-scenes aspects of social media and marketing? Passionate about seeking out and sharing a diverse range of geeky interests? Looking to both share and add to your knowledge of local, brand-aligned GeekGirlCon seeks a motivated and detail-oriented individual passionate with a diverse knowledge of geekdom as well as social media and research standards.
Reports To
Manager of Social Media
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively analyze cross-platform analytics in order to create actionable plans to meet team goals
- Reviewing posts for accuracy, clarity, and brevity
- Ensuring the use of correct ALT text when applicable
- Reviewing the legitimacy of follows
- Checking in with teammates
- Seeking out new businesses, organizations, influencers, and community members who would be an asset to GeekGirlCon
- Coordinating with the outreach team for new opportunities salient to GeekGirlCon
- Helps ensure all copy is provided and completed in a timely manner
- Takes initiative to ensure appropriate information is provided in each post
- Research and vet potential brand-aligned contributors
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Interest in pursuing brand-aligned organizations and events
- Familiarity with social media platforms·
- Familiarity with Canva is a plus
- Familiarity with social media best practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively analyze cross-platform analytics in order to create actionable plans to meet team goals
What It Means to Volunteer as GeekGirlCon Staff
- GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.
- Attendance remotely (or in-person, during non-pandemic times) for staff and departmental meetings is required.
- Must maintain prompt and professional correspondence.
- Most work is conducted over email and with in-person meetings in the Seattle area.
- Between 5-10 hours per week of work is required for this role (including meetings, etc).
- The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future!
