Job Summary
GeekGirlCon is seeking a skilled and tech-savvy volunteer to join our team as a Twitch Technical Producer. In this specialized role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of our Twitch channel, ensuring high-quality and engaging live streams that align with GeekGirlCon's mission and values. Your expertise will be crucial in creating a seamless streaming experience and enhancing the production value of our content.

Twitch Program Lead and/or Director of Marketing
Responsibilities
- Manage the technical setup and production elements for livestreams on the GeekGirlCon Twitch channel.
- Operate streaming software (e.g., OBS Studio) to control scenes, overlays, transitions, and other visual elements.
- Monitor video and audio quality during setup and while streaming, troubleshoot technical issues, and make adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate with content creators, hosts, and guests to ensure the stream experience is comfortable and seamless. Help guests with equipment setup, and streaming best-practices (e.g., lighting advice, microphone setup, connection issues)
- Monitor chat interactions and engage with the audience to foster a positive and inclusive community experience.
- Save, trim, and upload stream VODs to the GGC Youtube channel.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and features on Twitch, and proactively suggest innovative ideas to enhance the livestreaming experience.
- Train and support other volunteers involved in livestream production, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must have hardware and internet upload speed required for live streaming. (e.g., hardwired high speed internet with 25+Mbps upload, see hardware recommendations here: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/obs-studio/21640)
- Strong technical proficiency in livestreaming setup and operation, particularly on the Twitch platform. Familiarity with streaming addons, hardware and peripherals.
- Experience in producing high-quality livestreams, including camera setup, audio configuration, lighting, and scene transitions.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to address technical issues quickly and efficiently during live streams. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances during live productions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to attend occasional virtual team meetings. Preferred ability to attend GeekGirlCon’s annual convention.
- Willingness to appear on stream is a plus, but not required.
What It Means to Volunteer as GeekGirlCon Staff
- GeekGirlCon staff positions are all volunteer, non-paid positions.
- Attendance remotely (or in-person, during non-pandemic times) for staff and departmental meetings is required.
- Must maintain prompt and professional correspondence.
- Most work is conducted over email and with in-person meetings in the Seattle area.
- Between 5-10 hours per week of work is required for this role (including meetings, etc).
- The staff is a team of highly dedicated, geeky, and passionate volunteers; it’s a lot of hard work, but an amazing experience with lots of opportunity to help build GeekGirlCon for the future!
