Write for GeekGirlCon—Seriously!
Are you still mulling over a panel discussion from GeekGirlCon 2018? Perhaps you’re excited about a new book that features a strong female character? We at GeekGirlCon like to write about all sorts of topics, but we can’t cover it all. We need your help to fill this blog with diverse voices about pop culture, STEM, or even personal anecdotes. How can you help? By writing for us, of course!
But Kalyna, you might think, I’m not a writer! Well, I didn’t think I was a writer either, and yet here I am writing for GeekGirlCon. I wrote assignments for school, from three paragraph essays to thirty page thesis papers. I wrote for work, filling my organization’s intranet with lots of procedural content. I even, occasionally, wrote for myself. From fanfiction to short entries in my bullet journal, I’ve accumulated a lot of written material written by me. But I never thought of myself as a writer until last summer when I had this simple yet profound “aha!” moment: I write, therefore I am a writer.
After that “aha!” moment, I decided to challenge myself to stretch my writing muscles and volunteer my services to GeekGirlCon. If this sounds familiar, I’m here to tell you that you are a writer—and we want to hear from you! Only you can let the GeekGirlCon community know how you feel about the latest in science, technology, comics, arts, literature, game play, and game design.
If you have an idea for a pitch, send it to us at email@example.com. Remember, your pitch should reflect GeekGirlCon’s mission statement. Also, as with all GeekGirlCon opportunities, writers are unpaid for their pieces.
So what are you waiting for? Send us your pitch today!
